Racism 101: Are you a Racist?: My Name is Not Social Justice

racismschool:

I am so irritated with this term. Specifically, I am irritated with this term being used to describe this blog. Who made that decision for me? I didn’t make it. In addition, why is it that I am almost always referred to as a “Social Justice Blog” when my post is being reblogged by someone who…

I love this post.

I also kinda hate the label considering I only started RaceMash initially to help myself better understand other POC groups and cultures, as well as shift focus away from an all black/white paradigm to a much wider view of racism.

Plus knowing that non-black POC are also negatively affected by white supremacy (albeit in different ways) is kind of cathartic. But no, I really don’t think my constant reblogs and occasional commentary can be considered “social justice” when it’s really more about education and being exposed to different opinions and experiences.

Basically a blog dealing with racial issues, mostly in America but with some posts about other countries as well. While there will be many posts dealing with the black/white binary, I also hope to shed much focus on race issues concerning First Peoples, Latinos, Middle Easterners, South Asians, East Asians, Southeast Asians, people who are bi or multiracial, and any other minority groups I may have forgotten to mention.
